NCASA is proud to present the NC High School A Cappella Competition presented by Liquid Fifth! Read below for complete details:

Date: April 28 hosted by Hillside High School of Durham. If more than six groups register, choirs will have to qualify at Regionals on the weekend of March 24.

Sound: We are delighted to partner with Liquid Fifth to provide sound for the event. The performance will be recorded and schools may choose to have their performance mastered in the studio for an additional fee.

Who: The event is open to all NCASA member schools. Each school may enter one group.

Cost: As with all NCASA competitions, this event is free for member schools. 

Judges: Andy Beck, Lisa Blair-Hawkins, and one more judge to be determined.

Awards: Trophies for first, second, and third place groups. Medals for each performer of the top three groups. Special Awards for best male solo, female solo, vocal percussion, and choreography.

Adjudication standards were created by NCASA. 

Competition Rules are embedded within the show choir rules. All rules are the same as show choir except where noted.

Performance and Stage Preparation Time:

  • Walk-throughs will occur prior to the competition. Choirs will have 8 minutes to do a walk-through and sound check. 
  • HS A Cappella Performance Time: 12 minutes for performance and clearing the stage.
